"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

Based on everyone’s comments, here is the format:

Everyone send me a list of three titles of books you have not read, but were high on the “to read” list.

Books should be fiction or non-fiction, and I have decided that we are going to alternate historical and contemporary books.  (No, Amy-Renee, it will not all be Sci-fi or history, so you are safe.  Just for you, since you know I can’t say no to you.)  Again, try not to plunk us in the middle of a series, and try not to break the bank – if we can get a trade paperback for around the $20 range or under, that would be great.  Used books and library books are good options if the title is just too good to resist.

On the first day of every month – one of us will kick-start a discussion of the book on our blog – this person will rotate, and may not be the person who suggested the book (I am pretty much going to pull this out of the hat).

People can respond to the review, either as a comment, or if they really feel they have a lot to say, as an entry on their own blog.

I will alternate the book titles to give us “heavy” and “light” months, so that we don’t feel bogged down in too much heavy material.  I will also try to alternate whose “picks” they are so that nobody get’s all their titles first.

If there is a particularly intriguing title, we can, by consensus, move it to the top of the list.  It will take a rough majority outcry to do this – I am not going to count, but if enough people seem to want to move it up, it will.

Non-bloggers are more than welcome to participate by responding in the comments sections of us bloggers.

When by consensus, it stops being fun, we stop.  Any one person can opt-out of a given month if the book just sounds TOO horrible to them, but I would encourage everyone to give every book a shot. I never knew I liked spy thrillers until I borrowed one in a moment of desperate boredom.  Now I am hooked on Frederick Forsythe.

When, by consensus, we get bored with the book list, we stop and generate a whole new list.

James has already sent me a list, and I have some single titles from the rest of you.  Send the test in to me by private email (there’s a link on my About page, if you don’t have it) sometime this weekend, and I will post the list as soon as I can generate it. Note to Sabine – while I find the title intriguing, and it will be on the list, Moose wants you to know he will NOT read the penis book.  There is only one penis whose history he is interested in thank-you-very-much.

That’s the rough format.  Any other suggestions?

I SO wish this had started last month. While the girls were gone I read the entire trilogy of Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein. It rocked.

Now I have to come up with something different.

Thank goodness no one thought of checking everyones Amazon.com wish lists…(DON’T check mine. I don’t want you to. Really. Please. Please??)

I think i agree with Moose, i read at the Coffee Shop most nights, and that one might push me over the “we think he is a eclectic serial killer” threshold with the other regulars. the “History of the Screw” book was odd enough

I love Koontz – I am thinking of putting Velocity on my list. Man – I am waffling. I have two pretty easily at the top, but I am waffling on that third.
