Quantum Futura CE200

Is on its way to me!

I lost an Embroidery Machine and two sewing machines in Katrina.  One of the machines MIGHT be salvagable, but of course, it is my cheapo backup machine.  The Izek and the embroidery machine were stored lower and were completely trashed by two days of briny floodwater.  I bought a very, very cheap Walmart machine in desperation because I needed something to prepare for Gulf Wars, but replacing my old machines with anything good had to wait until the necessities were taken care of.   It was decided that it was just too expensive to replace them both.

And then, a happy contingency occured.  A lady in Maryland bought this machine, then decided she wanted something more upscale in the embroidery department and bought herself a nice new Husqvarna.  Lucky her!  She put this one back in the box, completely UNUSED and pristine with all the parts and manuals, and sold it on Ebay for $300 below the price you will pay at Hancock’s.  Lucky ME!

I like to do hand embroidery for most of my SCA projects.  I am too much of an authenticity nut for most of my stuff, although I have been known to use an embroidery machine for quickie projects.  That being said, I’d like to have a little machine capacity for doing modern sewing, like decor for Harry’s room, and gifts for the nieces.  And, it’s handy for SCA gift basket largesse that has to be produced en masse.  I also need a sewing machine with a little more oomph in it than the $75 basic Brother that I bought as a stopgap.  This is perfect.

As soon as they get my check – which is on its way there – this little baby will make its way to a new home where it will be appreciated.

Worshipped, even.

    Jealous. Definately jealous.

I don’t trust myself with anything that intricate. I’m a klutz and it has too many delicate parts. My past eight SCA years have been a succession of Brother machines — I’m on my third now.

Husqvarna! I thought they only made chainsaws….. Now, if the lady in Maryland is making garb with a chainsaw, that might be something worth going to Maryland to see….

No, no. They make weedeaters, too. Not *just* chainsaws and sewing machines.

That’s awesome, Bri. I hope you enjoy it!

*pouts ‘cuz she wants one and Sabine probably won’t let her buy one*

Kick Ass!!!! I love my Elna Heirloom machine. I just couldn’t justify the expense for everyday sewing for an embroidery machine. However, I am spoiled because we have friends in the Barony who have commercial grade machines.

And, this weekend I was surprised when my Don presented me with a red scarf that has his arms on it. It so kicks ass!!!! More heraldry is a good thing!

Excellent! I like a touch of heraldry myself – even though I don’t put my arms or badge on my associates’ belts. It’s all about plausible deniability…

It depends – face down, in a ditch, reeking of beer in a pool of your own vomit? I am thinking a delay in recognition MIGHT be a bit to my advantage.

    Just sayin’…
