"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

I interrupt your previously schedule rant (about Kat’s question), because I have been tagged by Toddler Planet to reveal five strange things you may not know about me.  Since I have a mixed SCA and Mommy audience, your definition of strange may vary.  But here it is:

1.  All you SCA people know this, but I beat people with sticks.  More specifically, I compete in full-contact medieval swordplay.  Check the “About” for a picture of me in armor.  We have no weight classes, so I fight everyone from women my size to men twice my size.  And, after over a quarter-century of doing it,  I am actually pretty damned good at it.  Not bad for a teenage bookworm-turned-athlete.

2.  I take a bath EVERY night before I go to bed unless I am falling-asleep-on-my-feet fatigued.  I have a kind of eeewww reaction to getting under the covers dirty.  And baths MUST have bubbles.  Preferably of the lavender variety.

3.  I have had over 200 stitches during my lifetime.  Probably over 300.  I lost count.  Only about 25 of these were related to #1.  However, many started with the phrase “I dare you…”

4.  I have an almost vampiric aversion to having my picture taken.  I am seriously unphotogenic and I pretty much hate every photo of me except my senior high school yearbook photo.  I was a hottie in that one.

5.  Despite the fact that my personality falls squarely into the “tomboy” category, I have a collection of porcelain princesses.  The collection is probably valued at around $3600 by now.

6.  I can’t walk by a crooked picture on the wall or an unfolded shirt in a store without fixing it.  Those are just two examples of my irresistable compulsion to tidy.  “It’s a blessing … and a curse.”

Okay, so it’s six.  That thing about my cleaning compulsion was a bonus.

Who to tag, who to tag?  I am tagging my knight, Artie, because I know if he doesn’t have weird things (HAH!) he will make them up, and Charlotte, because I live to torment her lately.

Awesome! I had picked up that you did SCA, but the stitches were a bonus. I’ll have to confide Widget’s traumas to you when they occur, as I know they will …

    Good stuff!

    Aw nuts.

I beat Artie in responding! Woot!

I can get the picture straightening thing. Not so much the shirts- but definitely the pics.

200 stitches? Wow, woman! I thought I was prone to breakage!

    Kat Says:

With the exception of the single stitch in my navel, the one just below my ribcage, and the three on my side (two that broke — oh, and all from my gallbladder surgery) — all of my stitches are in my mouth. Over the years, there have been a total of 28 of them.

    Yeah, that’s appetizing.

#4 is crap. Bri (Robbin) takes a fine picture. Like most redheads, you just have to be careful not to over-light her.
