That is the news on the leg front.
I had my third x-ray this morning. Â The orthopedist’s reaction was “Well, huh.”
No, there still is no visible bone growth. Â
Nothing has changed. Â Nothing.
But, there is no swelling (never was).
And there is no pain (none after the first couple weeks).
And there is no movement of the fracture. Â It is, in every way, exactly the same as it was the last x-ray.
So basically, my doctor shrugged. Â He pronounced it “stable” by the dictionary definition of the term, and said that something MUST be happening in there, on the simple basis that it hasn’t gotten any worse, even though I have been walking on it. Â If I can walk on it and there is no pain, he doesn’t feel the need to go in and have a look-see. Â Here’s a brace instead of that cast. Â Yes, you can drive. Â Come back in a month.
So I am walking around on a broken leg, that is still broken after NINE WEEKS and nobody apparently finds that distressing.
Who am I to argue?
About 10 years ago I passed out in the shower. After a million tests, the dr. finally looked at me and said, “sometimes young woman just pass out.” That was my diagnoses.
That’s when I realized drs don’t know anything more than we do, they just have degrees.
This is coming from the girl who is in her 2nd week of lyme treatment and still feels like crap and no one can tell me when I might stop having vertigo.
I think I’d be finding me a second opinion. I actually know somebody that their doc kept saying pneumonia. If they hadn’t gone for a second opinion after several weeks of not getting better, they’d have died. Not the same thing, I know, but . . . I’m now a big believer in the second opinion.
Jodifur, I agree with you!
I’ll help: _I’M_ distressed. You need to get a second opinion.

I will note, however, that although I have a heavier bone structure than you, I will resist the temptation to block, throw a shot, and take a knee all at the same time.

I can’t believe it. There’s got to be something going on in there. Is an x-ray really that definitive? I really don’t know much about the medical world.
At least you’re not in a cast. That means bathing with your leg submerged and driving.
Yup — I find that quite disturbing as well. I mean. 9 weeks! That’s an awful lot of time for just “stable, but something must be happening”.
