Why is it that every time they have a intelligent, original, genuinely funny show with a talented cast on network television, they inevitably cancel it before it can even get off the ground? Â
ABC Family is pulling a “Sci-Fi Channel” maneuver, a la “Firefly” and “Dresden Files” and is taking their new comic-book based show, “The Middleman” Â off the air after one season.
If you haven’t seen this show yet, go now, while you still can. Â It just may be the best show you have never seen. Â It is wonderfully campy with a deadpan sense of humor, dry as the Sahara, and true to it’s comic-book roots and with more than a few passing nods to pop culture and high culture. Â It is also perfectly cast and wonderfully directed. Â I have a serious Geek-crush on Matt Keeslar. Â
In short, it is far, far, too good to last on network TV.
One more point for mediocrity.
I just heard about it for the first time this weekend. Dang it.
