"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

We have a new car!

Well, new to us – I prefer to buy one-year-old used cars, actually.   They often still have the manufacturer’s warranty, and they are a lot cheaper and generally in great shape.

Tomorrow, after they install the keyless entry, we pick up this:

2007 Pontiac Vibe

A 2007 Pontiac Vibe.  Which is basically a Toyota Matrix in a Pontiac skin.

We got to drive an almost identical Vibe while we were on our vacation in Florida.  It got fantastic gas mileage – we went the whole week on 1 tank of gas.  While not exactly a huge car, the back seats fold to hold a bit of cargo if needed.

And my husband fits in it.  Which is one of our prime criteria.

We found a 2007 with only 20K miles.  For a really nice price.

So, it’s time to say goodbye to our old Concorde, which goes to my mother next weekend.

I don’t think I’ll miss it long.

OOOh! Is it that color, too?!

I was eyeing that same car in black on the road to work today. I like my Pontiac, though she may not like me so much since I haven’t been so kind to her over the years.

We considered one of those a while back. We bought the Highlander instead. I have known several people with a Vibe and all have been happy. Enjoy your new car!

When Griff & I got together, I had a Ford Escort 2 door hatchback. He could ride in the passenger seat … barely. He couldn’t get behind the wheel at all, though. So the rule for new cars is that he has to be able to drive & ride in it relatively comfortably and with some safety.

On my last go round of car buying for myself, our first foray was to go to Carmax and just sit in various cars to see what fitted him best of the cars I liked. I’d had my eye on a PT cruiser, but … no dice. Sigh.

I ended up with a Ford Escape, the smallest of the 3 Ford SUVs … because oddly enough, he was more comfortable and had more room in the escape than in the expedition or the explorer. We finally figured out that most SUVs are no longer built for guys. They are built for soccer moms hauling lots of kids … so the cockpit is designed for small female ergonomics. The Escape had a better cockpit design for both of us. Go figure.

    Enjoy your Vibe!
