"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

Mommy’s new toy, my very first Mother’s Day Present, I present to you my Nintendo DS Lite, presented to me on its launch date:

Somehow appropriate – a game system on Mother’s Day.  I can amuse myself until my son gets old enough to need amusement.  Two gifts in one.

It’s also white, sleek, and trim – the iPod of the portable game system.  I have had Lancome compacts that were thicker.  It has wireless capabilities and Opera is working on browser functionality in a game cartridge.  This means I will hold off buying that Dell Axim.  The main reason I wanted a PDA was to catch my email on the road, but I could not bring myself to enter the Blackberry Paradigm.  I work with pharmaceutical execs and government regulatory wonks who would have to have their Blackberries surgically removed from their thumbs.  I have doggedly resisted being universally available to any of them.  But negotiating contracts and answering inquiries from the FDA on what is, for all intents and purposes, a Gameboy, appeals to my sense of whimsy.  I may have to grow up, but I don’t have to grow old.

    1) that’s adorable. I don’t know that much about game systems, admittedly, but it gets point for being cute.

    2) Welcome to your new home! I like the theme. The green is nice and soothing.
