"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

Before preschool dropoff:

“Mommy, when we get inside, I want two hugs and two kisses before you leave. Because if I get three hugs and three kisses, you will be late for work and you will miss the party.”

Nobody told me about the party.

I think my son is going to be heartily disappointed when he enters the ranks of the working world.

well clearly you seem happy to go to work, and what makes your son happy is a party, therefore there must be a party at your work. Makes sense to me.

Well… we don’t always have parties at work either, but one of the fellas did bring in a big pot of white beans with ham hocks the other night and we had cornbread, too.

I have been recently intrigued as Solvi has begun to imaginatively play with small and big ducks, fish, dolls, etc. as “mommy and baby.” Often the “mommy” goes away or is missing and the “baby” is heard calling and calling, “Mommy, mommy…Maaaaaahhhhhmy.” And then the baby will ask “Where is mommy?”

The answers Solvi then provides are both limited and telling: “shopping,” “at work,” or “sleeping.”
