My conversation with my son, upon my return from my business trip last night:
“I talked with the boys on the playground like this – I told them that my Mommy had disappeared.”
If you listen very carefully you will hear the soft sound of a mother’s heart breaking.

February 3, 2009 @ 9:30 amReminds me of a time when I was working on the road a lot (even more than now) and calling home regularly to speak with my only child. One time she said, “not now, Daddy, I’m watching Scoobie-Doo,” and hung up the phone. Don’t let it get to you; it happens to all of us.
