"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

Okay, I am a big enormous grump.  But the whole world doesn’t have to be that way.

Dierdre and Martin are about to welcome their baby, Ginny, into the world.  Apparently, she’s been pretty eager to meet them, because it has been a struggle to keep her cooking for the recommended baking time.

Say a little prayer to your deity-of-choice that the new little family gets their start with a minimum of speedbumps, and wish them well.

Here’s the funny thing.  The day that Harry was born, I don’t really remember feeling at all overwhelmed.  I was nervous, in the way that you are finally going to meet someone in person that you’ve ever only exchanged letters with.  I didn’t know how he would look, or how he was going to react, but I felt I KNEW him.  And we were going to be just fine.

And so will they.

I remember being in “happy crisis” mode – just do the next thing – follow instructions, speak up when they ask you if it is OK, or give you a choice, and just keep doing the next thing until you are done.

Wait – I’m still doing that…this weekend the next thing is lumpier foods!
