Every four years, we have ability to have a peaceful change of government. If the electorate is unhappy with the right wing nutjobs, the liberal wieners get thier chance. Four years later, if they haven't pacified enough of the voters, they're out on thier access and the right wing nutjobs come back. And nobody seriously doubts that it's going to happen. My conservative friends are running around in circles in a mild panic because Obama is so charismatic and the Repubs number are so low. "What's going to happen if he wins?" is the question. Nobody, for a moment, thinks that there is a chance that the current incumbent will refuse to step down. Nobody else manages this. The British come close, but nobody else.
