"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

Remember my multiple posts on the nearsightedness of Big Brother?

I stand corrected.

Once again, I have to give Kudos to LL Bean.  Within six days of my blog post on my rare moment of frustration with their customer service, the site was peppered with hits from the LL Bean corporate domain in Durham, ME.  It looks like they combed the site.  I think their guy/gal was either thorough or bored, depending on whether we are talking intent or curiousity.  Either way, my hat is off – very nice work. I am impressed.

So, the modern internet age does indeed make it easier for corporate entities to keep track.

The only nice thing is that it has also made it easier to look back through the keyhole.

I am oddly comforted by this.

Well – here’s to hoping you at least get more than $10.00 from them now! 🙂

Here’s to hoping they see a company “line” is frustrating to customers when what we really want is someone who can and will give us what we want, even if it means bending a bit.

LL Bean has been like that for decades. I remember a man I worked with years ago telling us about an incident with his dad. His dad had had a pair of boots he purchased from LL Bean for….I dunno….20 years and they were absolutely worn out. He sent them back asking for another pair, free of charge, stating simply “I think they should have lasted longer.” Shortly thereafter, YUP….brand new pair of boots and a polite note saying the orginal boots were no longer in stock but they hoped he would find the new pair an acceptable replacement. You can’t beat that for customer service and satisfaction. Good to know, some things stay the same!
