"Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them." – Albert Einstein

I am talking about his Northwest Airlines strike thing.

I, a complete ignoramus when it comes to current events and the bankruptcy and labor status of the various air carriers, booked a flight to NY over a month ago to attend my brother’s wedding.  On {drumroll, please}, you guessed it – Northwest Airlines.

Right now I am going insane.

I have spent over $350 on the ticket.

Over $100 on clothes to wear to said wedding (anything I had that was REMOTELY semi-formal is now in a landfill in Louisiana).

Over $200 on a hotel room.

And that doesn’t include the wedding gift.

Now you know, you simply have to know, that an airline struggling out of bankruptcy is about as likely to refund me for a useless ticket as the man in the moon is to come down and kiss my lily-white butt.  I will get a flight coupon.  For another flight on a bankrupt, labor-embattled airline.  Joy, joy, joy.

Or even worse – they choose to strike WHILE I am in New York, and I have to buy another flight to get home.  Last minute. At exorbitant prices.

Net cost of this strike to me is likely to be over $1K.  Net result to Northwest?  I am unlikely to ever fly them again.  And, I won’t be the only sucker with a revelation.   So there may not be an airline for the flight attendants to work FOR.

I want to be sympathetic.  I really do.  But right now, I am one selfish, pissed-off control freak.

    *sigh*

I’m sorry the asshat virus that’s infecting the world has gotten to your little corner of it, too. Perhaps the planets will realign themselves and all the humans will stop being losers.
I’m positive that it would be all better if they’d just let Pluto back into the union… the other guys just can’t pick up the slack.

It’s probably because I work. According to my mom, everything bad in the world relates somehow to my divorce. Which, by the way, was like 14-15 years ago. No really, world hunger, Katriana, the Gulf War, high prices on grocries, if anyone gets a cold or flu. All this and I’m sure Northwest too. (I have frequent flyer miles with them) is because I work outside the home.

How far of a drive is it? I hate flying cause they make you wear flip flops and don’t let you have liquids.

Aside from all the money you would be out if there was a strike in the next 24 hours the upside is you could come to Crown List and see me!! 🙂
I hope all goes well and you are able to get to and from the wedding with no problems. You will be missed this weekend.
